Absolutely loved it. So many of the worries and barriers she speaks to resonate. I felt she really articulated all the feelings and thoughts in such a truthful way. Things I’ve never known how to put into words and now know how to talk about them!

A solid 4-star read to start off the new year!

As someone who often falls into ruts of melancholy and has trouble truly savoring life's goodness, I am very glad this "celebration as discipline" theme is being resurrected in Christian nonfiction. Zasowski's personal narrative and expertise as a restoration therapist added rich insight.

Two takeaways:
- The "if I didn't earn it, I don't get to celebrate it" mentality is incompatible with Scripture. Every good thing is from the Lord, and our celebration is worship.
- Celebration should not just be for endings but also points of progress. This allows us to celebrate the work God is doing without the need to "protect" ourselves with cynicism.

I still believe that "Aggressively Happy" by Joy Clarkson tops this very niche sub-genre, but if you're looking for more on the topic from an LMFT perspective, this a great next read.

What If It’s Wonderful by Nicole Zasowski is an incredible book that explores the ways that we hold fast to fear and try to protect ourselves from disappointment and pain through cynicism and a hesitancy to hope and celebrate. But at what cost? “What has your pain cost you?” is a question that the author wrestled with herself and now asks her readers to ponder as well. She then dives in to the beauty of letting go of our fear and finding joy in choosing to celebrate, both in the present moments and in the hope for the future. “Celebration is God’s healing balm for our broken world and to our scarred hearts.”

This was exactly the book I needed, that I didn’t know I needed. I came across it by chance, or more accurately by God’s good grace, and it has opened my eyes to the freedom of fully embracing hope and celebration, something that I didn’t realize I had been tempering. God has been redeeming my perspective on hope through this book. And if you're also someone who is hesitant to celebrate or hope because of past painful experiences, then perhaps this book will breathe life into your tired soul too.

It’s a really good book it’s just hard for me to get through because it’s not my normal genre. I think I need to listen to these type of books instead.

I struggled to stay focused on the audio. My mind kept wandering, so I wasn’t getting the full benefit of the message.

Incredible read. I have never felt more connected to an author through her ability to be vulnerable in a way that is tasteful and relatable. Nicole was incredibly hopeful, while honoring the fact that life is hard. I’m reminded that God is in the middle of the party as much as he is in the pain. I can celebrate now because of the hope of the gospel. Joy is mine for the taking, here and now!
