I wasn’t a 100% sure what a dark romance entailed before I read this. I keep seeing people say that they liked dark romances so I decided to give this book a try and, let’s just say, I was not expecting all of that. (I wish I had known there were other books in this universe before reading this because I just felt left out of certain parts of the story.)

I will say, I have read (at least) 2 other dark romances in the past without realizing it after this. Den of Vipers and Royals of Forsyth University. Den of Vipers was a wild ride in its own. But this? This was just out there. (At least, from what I can remember from Den of Vipers.)

The authour held the strings for these characters and forced them to do such wild things. They were the puppet master and the characters, their pets. Not that that is bad. Just that they had an imagination way out there than what I would have expected.

This book, to me, was mostly diolog than anything else. It did not go into a ton of detail per setting the environment unless it was for immediate purposes.

I did have a few issues though. Firstly, this books needs an editor. There were multiple times character names were thrown around, mentioned in a scene, even though you are reading from one of those characters POV (as if we were reading from Bob's [just some rando name] POV but for some reason Bob is mentioned as a secondary character in the same scene). It was confusing on how things even worked. I get that this is a book but some things were not based in reality here. There were also inconsistencies within the book as well.

There were also a lot of...unsanitary business in this book.

SpoilerYou don’t put it in her mouth after you just put your cock in her ass! And you do not put it in her vagina after you’ve also had it in her ass. (I can't believe I have to say these things. UTIs exist, people!) And you used a gun (and a knife)? I have not read Hunting Adeline but I’ve heard that’s a part in it. And all the blood licking and consuming, wasn’t for me (I remember there being a lot of blood play in Den of Vipers. I wasn't okay with it then, I'm not okay with it now. It's just gross. As well as licking things off the floor.

I have discovered dark romances aren’t fully for me. There were some times I was into it but then it would just get all weird and twisted and that I’m not for. It was definitely a learning experience, though.

So, if you’re into a pinch of smut and dirty, raunchy, filthy sex, then this is the book for you!

Also, that ending scene was just… something I was not prepared for. I’ve read a lot of smut in my time but I have not experienced THAT before. It came out of nowhere with no indication or buildup for it. It just seemed parts of it and the book were forced just to keep the plot moving. What a ride, though! (Literally)

DID NOT FINISH

Yikes. This one was a big miss for me. I like the premise, but the execution was off. The action starts immediately, then the sexy times. And, great, I like a book that starts off with the good stuff, but also, I need to care about the characters. I didn't care one bit about these people. They have nothing to offer beyond surface-level attributes. They are all rich kids getting away with literal murder. Ho hum.

You know how sometimes when you read an amazing story, and you just get sucked in and forget it's a book, and you live in the world with the characters, and you can picture them in your mind speaking, and you love it and never want it to end? This was not that kind of book. It had some parts of what a good story could be, but none of the heart. It was missing something, and that something made the book unreadable for me.

This is the most cringe book I’ve ever read. Why are we typing out sound effects? Why are we using the word GYRATE????? It took me forever to finish cause it put me in a book slump but I refuse to DNF. Don’t waste your time.
