Ich bin ehrlich, ich bin verwirrt, was ich von diesem Buch halte. Ich hatte eine wirklich gute Zeit damit, kann aber nicht richtig erklären warum.
Es ließ sich sehr schnell lesen. Die Sprache ist leicht, aber nicht einfallslos und geprägt von sehr vielen Wiederholungen. Mir ist bewusst, dass das ein bewusst eingesetztes Stilmittel ist, manchmal war es dennoch ein wenig viel. Die Geschichte wird in vielen kurzen, manchmal eher assoziativ zusammenhängenden Absätzen erzählt. Auch das gibt einem das Gefühl, durch das Buch zu fliegen.
Ich fand das Setting interessant, ebenso wie das Konzept, diese Mädchen in einem Kampf gegeneinander vorzustellen, während sie irgendwie jede auf ihre Weise für ihre "Daseinsberechtigung" kämpfen.
Ich glaube, am Ende fand ich das Ganze einfach irgendwie interessant und mit nichts vergleichbar, was ich bisher gelesen habe. Ob ich verstehe, warum das Buch so viel Aufsehen erlangt hat, weiß ich jedoch nicht.

A good thoughtful and literary read. I became very invested in each of the girls and enjoyed the writing, the complexity of the setting, the fluidity of time, and the foreshadowing employed. It made me appreciate both girlhood and boxing
I really enjoyed this and some of the ways that the author described the human body and how we veiw each other was super intresting and sort of grotesque in a very lyrical way.

3 stars. While the premise is intriguing, the substance are lacking and the execution are pretty loose. After third chapter, reading this becomes a chore and towards the end, I just realised how characters lacked of depth, and the background told in such dry tone, my Hup Seng crackers tasted better than this.
The premise is good and the characters are realistic and compelling, but I just could not decide how I felt about the writing style, plus the final chapters are a slight let down

All the people suck on the straws and hold the grenades up in front of their faces.
