I was going to push through and preserve for the sake of finishing the trilogy but I would probably give the book 2 stars max and it's still 7 hrs of the audiobook left.
Pip's PTSD doesn't seem to be very supported, her behaviour is baffling and infuriating. Her little brother mentions someone watching the house in chapter one but she doesn't consider that.
She doesn't trust the police so
she's just going to frame a rapidt for murder and leave the falsely accused man in jail? She was defending Cara's father who had kidnapped a girl for years after he believed he killed Andy? Her morals have completely scrambled. I doubt that drs would cut her off from any sleep aids and leave her to illegally source them when she witnessed a murder and tried to save them.

I didn't expect that one.

I enjoyed it less than the others and I didn't like where the plot went…

DID NOT FINISH

Too close to horror and the PTSD depiction was way too realistic

This book had me on the edge of my seat. i wanted to reach into it and shake some sense into them tbh.
there's nothing more nervewracking to me than watching a character build a web of lies. i was genuinely more anxious when pip was doing that than when she was abducted.

i had heard both very good and very bad things about this book before reading it, and i saw that someone said that this didn't fit the characters. to which i would say it absolutely does. pip is not the slightly naïve "good girl" anymore. she is traumatised, has lost so much that mattered to her, she has ptsd
(and a drug addiction thanks to that).
she has been failed by the police before. this developement makes perfect sense, even if it's not what we'd wish for her.

I didn’t enjoy the second half of the book as much because the whole story pretty much took a 180 but the first part was a tense and I was genuinely scared for Pip in many situations.
I didn’t like the second part because everything that happens it because she thinks she cannot trust the police and by setting up the whole “How to get away with murder” thing. I also thought Jason being DT was pretty predictable from the start. I was still scared shitless for Pip.
