Great read!

As alway, I love a novel by Dean! Great read- even better to listen to. The narrator does a wonderful job putting the reader right into the story. I love the way the story weaves and how detailed it is. Great book!

The book is very very slow at the beginning, so much so I considered giving up on it several times - especially as the lead character (despite red flags everywhere) seems to ignore all rational and logic. There were just some really unrealistic decisions that played out - in my opinion. It wasn’t until about chapter 50ish that I thought it was actually worth finishing the book. As others might have stated, the book takes a weird sci-fi turn at the end. Overall, disappointed in this book as I usually like Dean Koontz books!

I am a big Koontz fan so I bought this book and read it without knowing the synopsis before jumping in. I’m glad I did because his books have such unique little twists that it’s more fun to figure things out as you go. This story was no exception. The balance of being a love story with a sci-fi undercurrent was really enjoyable. This was not a hugely suspenseful book but I found that it didn’t need to be to keep me hooked.

3.5 stars this was my first Dean Koontz I was expecting more horror. I felt this ended in Sci-fy more then horror. I get the internalized dialogue but it was repetitive. He kept reasoning himself in circles. I just expected more I guess. I will try another of his books and hope it’s better.

This was..... a lot. My first Dean Koontz novel and I don't believe it'll be my last. This story was wonderfully imaginative and full of sci-fi, romance, and thrills. The beginning captured me. The middle bored me. The constant "She looks just like Emily but she can't be Emily because she's Maddison but who is Maddison?" drove me insane. The ending drew me back in. It was a huge puzzle to piece together, and there's still parts of the book that I think about and go "wait, what came of that?" or "what relevance did that have?". I think it could have been a lot shorter of a book but I cannot deny his imagery and his words are brilliant.

Such a good read - couldn’t put it down. Way more horror/sci fi in this than I expected, but it was a nice peasant surprise as I love both genres.

I liked this book in the beginning, because I thought that I was getting into a Mystery/Thriller book (which it was to start), but the end was more like a SciFi than anything.

Overall it was a good read, but I wish that we would have had at least a hint of the Sci-Fi in the beginning of the book. While the ending was interesting, and I enjoyed how Dean Koontz molded the story around the ending, it fell a little short for me.
