Pretty good but too short. Also very glad I kept reading cuz yeah…. I’m happy it wasn’t as creepy as I thought it was in the beginning IYKYK.

I have always loved the classic Peter Pan stories, but when there's a dark retelling of it and by one of my new favorite arthur's I was so here for it all

It took me a little bit to get into King of Nothing as life was busy, I was tired and it was not a quick, easy mindless read.
Once I was able to start reading, Mona Black had me captivated and I could not put my kindle down.
This is a dark retelling of Peter Pan and the Lost Boys with a lot of trigger warnings that can be found at the start of the book.
While Black has made it her own story there are a lot of references to the original story by J.M Barrie, including Tink, Hook and the Reds - oh and I will never think of Tink the same way again.

If you enjoy very dark retellings of stories that you grew up with as a kid, especially when they involve RH and MM sword crossing, I recommend King of Nothing. This is the first book in the series.

This just felt off and forced. The author felt like she was trying to cash in on the success of the Vicious Lost Boys series with a bad rewrite. The storyline was way too close but not as well done. It didn't grab me. I tried to DNF, but...... it's Peter Pan, and I have a weird obsession.
The smut, which was supposedly the ploy to the book, just wasn't there. Almost fade to black but not. Idk how to describe it other than badly done.
Not well written, characters weren't engaging, the scenery was painted to be believable. It's just was not my cup of tea.
