Edgar Allan Poe: "I know writers who use subtext, and they're all cowards!"

What a great fuck you to Poe's critics at the time, I can't wait to watch Federico Fellini adaptation of this!

Poe's satirical works and me don't get along.

I was bored. You know where the tale is going without needing to read beyond the title.

This was meant to be Poe hitting back at critics who said his stories lacked (a) moral. He had a witty and tongue-in-cheek retort followed by the dull short that I couldn't connect to.

This was so unexpectedly hilarious. Oh, Poe. You don’t disappoint.

Also, if you liked this story (or if you didn’t) see Fellini’s Toby Dammit starring Terrence Stamp. Wonderfully bizarre.
