THIS WAS SO FUN!! AND CUTE!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE TEAM AND BITTLE HE'S SUCH A SWEETHEART!! This is such a fun story with beautiful art and some wonderful found family, I'm already picking up Year Two!

Check Please, if you don't know is a webcomic that follows Eric Bittle as he joins the hocky team at the prestigious Samwell University, this volume follows his freshman year.
I had heard about Check Please before, but it wasn't until now that I was in a reading slump that I decided to read it, and I'm so glad I did. The best part of this comic series is not only the art but the characters, they are so amazing!

2-2.5 stars maybe? There were not nearly enough episodes considering that the first part covers a whole year? So many things occurred off-screen, there wasn't nearly enough hockey match content, and the switch between the vlog format and like... normal comic narration was sometimes way too abrupt. I'm not sure I'm interested in continuing the comic at all, to be honest.

It's adorable, but unrealistically warm and fluffy. I'm just not the target audience for this one. If you like a cozy slow paced romance with almost zero conflict this is the book for you, but I just need a little bit more to a story than warm and cozy feelings.
