MARK!!!!! I am so glad I got read his story. I knew he was going to have an explosive story to tell.

This story was filled with so much emotion, I never knew Mark had it in him. But again, part of me knew he would tumble, for the right girl.

Losing control, even for a little bit, was the best way he could be built back up. Mark needed to find Crystal. She is the perfect woman for him. Her no nonsense attitude was exactly what Mark needed to be able to stand up and help his family, when they needed it most, and what he needed to move on from the heartache that never seemed to leave him.

I LOVED Mark's story!! This is an amazing series, filled with plenty of romance and suspense. The perfect combination.

I received an ARC, from Netgalley, for an honest review.

2 words.. Mark Compton

It took me ages to finish this. I don't know if I'm sick of the characters and this series in general or what, but I had to make myself finally sit down and binge on this book to get it out of the way.

I really liked--maybe even loved--the first book or two in this series. I was so excited to finally start seeing things from Mark's POV (in the book before this one), but it's honestly been a letdown for me. I think I liked him better when I had no idea what he was thinking, because he's an ass.

This one basically follows the same themes all the others do. We learn almost nothing about the whole Rebecca situation and who was involved, how, etc. I want some closure with that because it's been a long time coming.

I actually liked Crystal a bit at first, but by midway through this one, I was starting to be irritated by her for some reason. Maybe it's because she and Mark seemed to have that "we've had sex and spent maybe 10 personal hours together, so now we're madly in love" thing that irritates me about romance novels, I don't know. I hope she and Mark live happily ever after because they're perfect for each other.

The pacing of these books is bordering on painful. It's so slow and drawn out, and almost nothing actually happens. I think there's more dialogue than anything else, with the possible exception of back story (which continues to get more and more complex and frustrating).

I really, really wanted to love this book, and I'm afraid I might be being a little too harsh. Maybe I'll think about it more and come back to change this later, but right now I'm considering abandoning ship on this series. Maybe if the next book is definitely the last, I'll read it. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I've gotten so annoyed with these books.

On the bright side, the sex was more frequent (I think) and better (in my opinion) in this one than it was in some of the others.

3.5 stars, but I won't upgrade my rating to 4.

Loved Marks story! I would have liked a better understanding as to what really happened with Rebecca. I guess it was assumed but not super clear to me. Beyond that I loved the book and it was nice to see Mark find someone who could bring a different side out in him and have a real relationship. I also liked that crystal was a strong character.
