Not at all what I imagined, so melancholic.
The beginning of book 2 almost lost me but after persevering I found it to be almost overindulgently nostalgic laced with sadness.
As someone who struggles with the concept of change, I found this book perfectly encapsulates feeling as though your memories and past is a constant thought in the present.

Ok technically i only got 64% through this book, but even that was painful enough

I thought that was brilliant, personally.

Very haunting... beautiful and heartbreaking and the nostalgia is clear and twists your heart.
Charles and Sebastian... it's hard to believe their relationship is sometimes thought of as platonic. They clearly loved each other, and Charles' comparisons of Julia to Sebastian strengthen the romantic sense.
I adored the first half of this book. The second half, while still good, did not keep me enraptured the same way. The first half gets 5 stars most definitely.

One of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read.

A truly eery book. Very odd characters and yet at the same time very plausible. Captures an odd headspace between fantasy and reality
