speechlessly perfect, achingly human, heartwrenchingly empathetic, the last volume of kimetsu no yaiba amazingly balances intense, brutal action w/ tear-jerking yet heartwarming emotional impact.

ive never cried so much reading a manga...or rly just a book overall? rereading - or even now, simply thinking abt - certain scenes still automatically brings tears to my eyes, such is the impact of the whole series' culmination of characters, story, and themes. even my knowing the major spoilers beforehand doesnt negate my experience of the story, as the journey - and all its accompanying flourishes - to the end makes it all so much more.

this book doesnt just hit me hard, it hits deep. what stuns me most is how hugely empathetic the story and its messages are: the miraculous feat of survival or simply being alive, familial bonds, the power of collective action, how there's wickedness but also utmost joy in the world. gotouge has immense empathy and hope for her characters, and reading the story she's crafted in turn heals me as well.

im waxing poetic here but im rly in my feels...now beyond my blathering: the major characters have gone through so much and it's great seeing their character growth (that tanjiro-in-limbo chapter's sth else) but also how they - specifically the quartet -  have come full circle; the fights are ferocious and nail-bitingly intense; and while i still take issue w/ some of the paneling, composition and incontinuity, the art is detailed and at times beautiful, and it's amazing to see how far gotouge has come esp in terms of action scenes. while neither the story nor the art is perfect, put together they're a fantastic combination that powerfully drives the book's themes and emotional impact.

endlessly touching and remarkably hopeful, the 23rd and final volume of kimetsu no yaiba is a powerful, stirring, and poignant end to a series that will undoubtedly stay in my heart forever.
