DID NOT FINISH: 88%

Couldn't get past the age gap, commentary on the heroine as a "child", and the hero's anger issues.

I can’t even say how much I loved this series. It was AMAZING. Some parts were a bit confusing, but I eventually got the hang of it, and 10/10 recommended!

Fated mates romance story with a morally grey MMC and a very slow burn.  FMC a bit weak and innocent.

The fantasy world is cool but the gender roles are archaic and the 2000 year old fae is less mature than his 18 year old human mate

I LOVED this book. It was the perfect balance of romance, politics, magic, and the supernatural. I can't wait to read the next ones.

Well it was certainly sweet. Think I expected I a bit more from this from all I'd heard of ruis series.

Not much plot happening, was hoping the fantasy aspect would be a little more developed. Hoped there'd be a bit more of the danger that was threatened would be present in the story. The pacing was quite slow, the whole book probably takes place in less than a week and not much happens other than wedding preparations which certainly got tedious.

I liked aspects of the romance. The Fey protectiveness works up to a point, and then it just gets a bit frustrating with how much Ellysetta is restricted. Rain likes to harp on about she is his true mate and his equal but doesn't always treat her as such which gets old real fast.

There were bits that were sweet and I liked them together but there were certain parts that made me want to scream. She's supposed to be his equal but also listen to his every command. He gets pissed that she isn't as obedient as other girls (which she is mostly anyway) but still tries to say she's his equal. Honey, that ain't treating her as your equal.

I think I appreciated Ellysetta's interactions with her quintet more than some of her scenes with Rain. I liked Bel more as a character sometimes.

I was hoping to get more danger and interaction with the Eld mages that could have spiced up the story a bit. Bring a bit more drama to the story and depth to the villains of this world. Hopefully we see more of them in the sequels.

Either way I enjoyed it, it was a light hearte quick read. I expected to like it more than I did from its reputation, but it is what it is. I'll continue with the series until I get truly bored. They're easy enough to read in snapshots on my phone at the moment.

Sexismus.

4.5 stars I really loved the world building in this story. I like these kind of epic style big world ending approaching cataclysms. Sure it's a small unseen threat now but you just know it's going to grow and grow. I liked the way magic is set up in this world. On top of all of that I love that Ellie and Rain, despite being bonded, are not perfect as a match. They're still learning each other and it's not always easy. They have two very different backgrounds and it makes for confusion and struggles to understand each other. I like that it isn't all sweetness and light.
