This was a pretty typical romance story from Garwood. Having said that, I enjoyed this a lot more than the last installment in this series which I thought was a real step down.
I found the male romantic lead to be very typical of these kinds of stories - possessive, jealous etc. I did appreciate however how the female lead really gave it back to him.
I found the romance to be very enjoyable if nothing new.
I'll still continue on with the series as I find the books to be very enjoyable.

Once you've read one Julie Garwood you've sort of read them all... About halfway through I realized this was part of the same series that "Heartbreaker" & "Mercy" were a part of. Hence my sense of deja vu. You do not need to have read any of the series to enjoy this book--it works perfectly as a stand-alone. Although I read somewhere that a few of these characters were introduced earlier in the series. I imagine this was a nice payoff for those who've read the entire series.
Garwood consistently writes fast-paced action/suspense with a lot of heat. In that regard "Fast Track" did not disappoint. ;) However, I do have some criticisms. It sometimes felt like she was throwing in a sex scene for the sake of more sex--even if just a paragraph. I wouldn't complain if they weren't so repetitive. Whihc brings me to my next point... I'm not sure how early this draft was, but I started to notice a lot of repeated phrases. The one that stuck out to me and made me giggle was "He made love to me with his mouth." The first time it was kind of sexy. The second earned a big eye roll.
Cordie is a strong, smart & independent woman and Aiden makes for an interesting counterpart. At times he felt a little Christian Grey with how controlling he was. Eye roll... But it was still nice to see him soften and change as he fell in love with Cordie.
All in all: enjoyable, but not my favorite work of hers. If you're a fan of Garwood or you're looking for an easy read with a heap of sex, then "Fast Track" is for you.
P.S. I don't know if my tastes are more discerning now, but I found her writing way more enjoyable when I was 14 and... inexperienced. You know what I'm talking about... ;)

It was ok, but like beyond them hooking up there were literally never any sweet moments between the hero and the heroine.

I'm a huge fan of Julie Garwood, but this book was a disappointment. Aiden was very controlling and non-communicative; he didn't seem like a healthy partner for Cordie. I also missed Garwood's trademark humor.
When we were first introduced to Cordie and Aiden in Murder List, it was clear that Cordie had a huge crush on Aiden, but he didn't reciprocate. I have been waiting a long time for their story. Unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations. Cordie's mystery was pretty boring, there was a slight twist at the end, but on a whole it was just "meh". Aiden was way to perfect, and also way too domineering. I found it hard to believe he went from thinking of Cordie as a little sister to insta-lust. I felt that their whole story arc could have used a bit more detail. Regardless, when the Spencer and Walker's stories are written, as well as the remainder of the Buchannan's I will rush to read those. On a whole, I do enjoy this particular series of Garwood's.

Having first met Cordelia in Murder List, you know she has this long standing crush on her BFF’s older brother, Aiden. Apparently, her friends Regan and Sophie know all about it, but think she’s over it. She’s not.
The novel starts with a bit of depressing story - She experiences the death of her father, and his deathbed confession that leaves her reeling, searching for answers, and vowing to change her life immediately.
While grieving for her father, she and Aiden share a moment together that solidifies the fact that she is not over him, not even close. Chalking it up to just a stolen kiss, and thinking that his brooding ways means that he regrets their lip-lock, she decides to find out more about her mother that she thought was dead. Learning that her mother is in Australia, she decides to go and find out why her mother left all those years ago, who she really is, and what she is hiding.
Aiden jumps in to help. He flies her off to Sydney, and while there, they both discover what they’re up against – a powerful family willing to go to any length to suppress their secrets. Of course, what is also being suppressed are the feelings that they have for each other. While in Sydney, things heat up with both.
Like the other novels in the Renard/Buchannan series, this one has the same thread of mystery, suspense, and romance. What was missing was the humor, intense sparks and chemistry between the two main characters, and extreme drama surrounding the heroine. Aiden was a bit aloof, and we didn’t really learn much more about him than we already knew. While the reader discovers a bit more about Cordelia and what she does when she’s not hanging with Regan and Sophie, I miss the quick comebacks, smart mouth, and strong women characters that I loved with Regan and Sophie.
While it’s not Murder List, or Fire and Ice, it’s not all together bad. You do get to revisit some of the gang, including Regan, Alec, Sophie, Jack, and some of the other poker-playing buddies. I’m hoping that the series continues with one of the other brothers (Walker or Spencer) and that they have a bit more depth to them than what was found here.

Didn't bother finishing this one. Used to love this author's old historical, but these contemporaries are just cookie cutter characters with cardboard plot. Waste of time.
Boy oh boy oh boy I've been waiting to get my hands on Cordie and Aiden's story for years and it's finally here! I just picked it up when I was at the library yesterday and I was so happy!! I'm loving everything about it.
