This is the last book in the Chesapeake Bay series and I was interested to find out what happened to Seth in the end.
In this book, Seth is dealing with the remains of his past when he meets Drusilla, a woman who was trying to build the life she wanted in St. Christopher's. They have to deal with the clash of two worlds as they start up a relationship together.
Unfortunately, the plot didn't grip as close as the first three books had. Maybe because it was the same villain, despite the fact we thought she had been dealt with at the end of book 3, or maybe because we weren't finding out any new information. There wasn't the mystery hanging over our heads as we read on, just some slight tension as we wonder how Seth is going to handle it. Not very well as it turns out.
As much as the plot disappointed me, I really like Dru as a heroine. She wasn't someone who had lived in the town her whole life and she had a different background and family to the Quinns, but she grew on me very quickly as we watched her start up her own business, get over her fiance and deal with her bickering parents. Seth as a hero wasn't quite as compelling, I definitely preferred him as a kid in the first three books and would have liked to see more of how he fit in with the Quinns.
However, I did adore how Seth saw Stella's ghost instead of Ray's and how Dru and Audrey were with each other. There were good points in this book but I didn't find this as compelling as some of the other books in the series because it felt a little more predictable.

One of those predictable stories with profanity thrown in. I quit reading after 3 chapters.
The four books in this series are fantastically done, I love the strength and love between all the brothers and how they deal with their problems. I've read this series countless times and keep going back to it.
This book was given to me by my nephew. I had never read the prior books and am not a huge Nora Roberts fan but obviously I read it because it was a gift.
While I enjoyed this conclusion to the series, and had a good time catching up with characters from the previous books, this was not up to Roberts' normal standards. It just seemed like the way she chose to catch the reader up on the characters lives was forced and a little unbelievable. However, the story was good and a nice way to bring closure to these characters.
Seth’s story takes place 18 years after the third novel and is probably the one that I gravitated to the most throughout this series. To finally get to see him be happy and move on from his painful past, gives me joy. The Quinn brothers and their family really do show that through love, anything can mend and grow stronger.
Drusilla is the granddaughter of a senator and born from a wealthy family. To get away from the expectations of her family and be her own person, she settles in St. Christopher. She runs a flower shop where Seth meets her. Seth struggles with his past, deals with what is, and plans a future he can finally look forward to.
The ending to this series was bittersweet. I absolutely love the Quinn family and it was hard to say goodbye to them. In fact, I’ve read this series three times now and it will be one to go back to again when I’m in need of a great family story.
