I've read other books by Sawyer Bennett with tons of kink and steamy encounters, but this book has to be my favorite. The characters definitely have a connection that connects them on a friendly basis but when life's twists and turns throw these two together that connection takes a detour. This book was written beautifully. It has characters filled with emotions and struggles.

Honestly, this book is just average. Dax & Regan have a marriage of convenience because insurance companies are soul sucking vipers. There were a couple of dramatic moments that were either nonissues or hurt feelings. The H was overprotective & demanding & the h was feisty with self worth issues. Her disease is rare & was brought to life by Bennett when she talks about how expensive the medication is, even with insurance.

3.5 rounding down

There wasn’t a whole lot wrong with this book except I just felt like nothing happened. It relied too heavily on their old connection that I didn’t really feel how their new romantic one. I was looking for a few cute non bedroom moments for them to really connect and I didn’t see those. I also didn’t like how just because she was less experienced Dax had to be in control or whatever. Typos were rough too.

Still like this series and going to read on. This was pleasant enough just wish it had more substance.

I really enjoyed watching playboy Dax entering a marriage of convenience with his best friends sister. Dax came off in the first three books as someone who lives life simply to have fun and not take anything too seriously. In this book, we see another side to Dax and how thoughtful and caring he is when it really matters.

Regan was a very relatable heroine. TW:
SpoilerI also have a rare and life threatening chronic illness. Without my medication, I will not survive. If you are someone who also has a similar condition, Regan’s experience may be triggering. I found that it was handled well, albeit she had a wealthy man on her side when push came to shove, and that’s not a luxury many people have for life saving medications.
Overall, Regan was the perfect foil for Dax and they had some lovely chemistry.

This story is a bit heavier as far as the heroine’s situation and a tragedy that brings Regan and Dax back into one another’s orbit. The author did a nice job of balancing the heaviness with some levity and sweet chemistry.

I am a sucker for the marriage-of-convenience and the best friend's little sister trope so Dax checks off all my boxes! Sawyer Bennett is one of my go-to authors for sweet, swoony, with lots of heart and just right amount of steam to make me grab an ice cold drink. It's no different with Dax--actually, Dax (along with Erik) is one of my top favorite in the series!

Dax's best friend Lance was killed in a mugging, leaving behind his younger sister Regan. Dax soon finds out that Lance had been paying large amounts of money to help with Regan's medication because she suffers from a serious illness. Now, with her brother dead and no work insurance to cover her treatment, the only option was for Dax and Regan to marry so she could be put under his.

Dax had always seen Regan as a little sister, but over the years she had blossomed into a beautiful and very smart woman. The attraction between Dax and Regan was instantaneous and they quickly act on it, but Dax felt tremendous guilt and feelings of inadequacy. Can their marriage of convenience turn into something more?

I love Dax and Regan together! Regan is this sweet and innocent girl, but she does have a backbone on her and more than a match for Dax, who is this big, sexy hockey player. They balance each other out and I love how their relationship evolved from friendship to love. They are so swoon! And the sex of course is HOT--I mean, we are talking about Sawyer Bennett here!

My favorite part of the series though is the close knit friendship between the Arizona Vengeance team. I love the found family aspect of the team, how they support each other and there's never any question that they each have each other's backs. I also love the sisterhood amongst their wives and girlfriends and how they easily welcomed Regan into the group. I also love the friendship between Regan and Dax's sister Willow.

I absolutely loved Dax and I read it solely via audiobook and it was a great time! Aiden Snow as Dax and Virginia Rose as Regan were perfect! They brought both characters to life and added much more to my enjoyment than if I was reading the book on my own. I highly recommend the audiobook! And I highly recommend the series as a whole, but if you don't have the time or inclination to start from book one, Dax can be read as a standalone.
