I have nothing to say except that this book is an absolute masterpiece.
"Really what girl doesn't? It looks over you, that threat of violence. They drill the danger into your head until it starts to feel inevitable"

This book is so graphic.
It churns my stomach inside.
But it also sickens me how realistic it feels.
His grooming and manipulation is done so well. Never reading again.

WOW. This was an amazing book. Beautifully written about such a dark topic. The abusive nature about this relationship is all too familiar, even if my own story doesn’t align with abuse from a pedophile, but rather a narcissist. It perfectly details how victims internalize their abuse and feel so at fault, and how confusing and traumatic such abuse can be..how it can alter one’s outlook on life and change their view of the world, for the worst. A favorite book of mine FOR SURE.

this is another one of those books that i just don't feel is appropriate to assign a star rating to. i think i read through this book so fast because i was afraid if i put it down too many times i wouldn't be able to pick it back up again. this is not an easy read, its very dark & uncomfortable & disturbing, and it's really supposed to make you feel that way: uncomfortable & disturbed. i think the story was well executed considering the subject matter, definitely better executed than a little life was, but similar to a little life, this will only be a book i will read once and not again.
3.5/5. This story was written so well, it made my stomach churn. Big trigger warning for this book of course. As a survivor, Vanessa is a spot on protagonist of the complicated emotions one feels after grooming and abuse. It put me in an pretty bad mental state during reading, lots of disassociation. I’d probably rate it higher if it didn’t cause trauma flashbacks
I haven’t never felt so weird and uncomfortable reading a book in my life, usually this kind of book wouldn’t get to me, but after speaking to friends who have also read the book, they said they felt the same.
It’s a brilliant book which is why I’ve given it 5*, but I definitely don’t want to read that, ever, again.
