Oui. Est-ce sain ? Non. Va-t-on continuer à le faire ? Oui.
Minus having to use my translator app more times than I care to remember. Because my conversational French is nothing compared to being fluent. Lol! I loved this collection of poems.
wow
i actually think i enjoyed this book.
i mean, reading 100 poems filled with metaphors is honestly demanding, but that feeling when you understand them and therefore like them is definitely worth it.
through those poems, baudelaire shares his deepest thoughts, about evil, beauty, god, humanity— with metaphors as his only filter. he’s doing his best trying to understand this world, just like us.
idk, i like him.
(and let’s be honest, the fact he wrote poems about lesbians emancipation >>)

A tradução me incomodou, e espero poder reler o livro futuramente em outra edição.

I'm not a huge poetry fan. But, somewhere, someone recommended this to me. It may have been on the internet, but who knows. Regardless, the important thing is that I read it and I really, really enjoyed it. There are some absolute gems in this collection. Poems that strike deep at the heart of both the topic and the reader. But only four stars?! Well, some of that is my own failing. I can't read French, and I have to believe that these poems are even better in their original language. And, some of the poems are a little too flowery (no pun intended), but on the whole it's a truly wonderful collection. The fact that Baudelaire was influenced by Poe is evidenced in quite a bit of the poems as they are dark and seamy, and there are several that are deliciously decadent. Baudelaire was no prude, for sure. Anyway, if poetry is your thing, you're bound to find these to your liking. If it is not, you might still give it a try and see if there's something you'll enjoy.
Ah yes, look at me finally getting around to reading Monsieur Satanic Frenchy Boi 3 years after edgy 16 year old Clayton first found out about this book. I still found it fantastic.
I liked the themes at times but the style was difficult to follow and not engaging. The author seems like I’d like them in person if they were alive today however.
