A great work by Poe with a very entertaining building of tension using the mystery surrounding the events to further unnerve the reader and the ending leaving them with a sense of dread, this short story subverts the expectation of the modern reader at every step.

It was pretty difficult to understand at times what was going on but once I did, I realized it was just a revenge story. not to mention the way he kills Fontania or whoever did it in the most wack ass way possible lol

I had to read this story for my English I class, and I believe my teacher hyped this story up too much before we began reading. They said that this story was going to be page-turning and suspenseful. To me, this book was only slightly page-turning and not very suspenseful. Of course, I blame this more on my teacher rather than Edgar Allan Poe. This book was slightly hard to understand, especially towards the end. All in all, I believe that it was just ok.

This was an amazing story. I loved every part of it. may he Rest In Peace is my favorite story ending Truely an amazing Edgar Allen Poe story! If you don’t like dark stories, this isn’t for you. The book is concerning, so if you aren’t feeling the best or aren’t interested in it I would not recommend it
