My first read from Amy Ewing and it was, dare I say, possibly TOO good?? Considering my bags are now packed for Inishmore (not actually, but a girl can dream 😅).
This book is perfect for lovers of: forced proximity, small *Irish* town charm and grumpy x sunshine tropes! A little note: I really loved the side characters in this book and thought they brought a lot of vibrancy to the main story. A lot of humor and even more heart were woven into this book.
I thought the love story between Niall & Cordelia felt so natural. They just slowly wormed their way into each other's lives so seamlessly until they realized that the other person wasn't just a friend, but their "person."
Also, there was a pup named Pocket. How stinkin’ cute is that??
I've seen it said before – If you liked the movie Leap Year, this is 1000% the summer read for you! Just trust me, you're going to be obsessed with this one.

The Irish Goodbye is a romance about Cordelia, an American grieving the loss of her father, who decides to work for the summer in Ireland. There she meets Niall, who recently returned to his hometown after his fiancée cheated on him.
I really loved all the side characters in his novel, especially RóisÃn. I also enjoyed the main couple, but felt that their relationship was pretty rushed. It went from them being enemies to in love extremely quickly. The ending also seemed rushed, but for the most part I did enjoy the story.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed both Keval Shah and June DeBorahae. I didn’t love when Keval did female characters voices, but I don’t often like that in books so that isn’t strictly an issue with this one.
Overall I did like the story and would try reading more from this author in the future.

Another promising romance that unfortunately went downhill for me. But I think if you're looking for a story to settle a sense of wanderlust, this is a good option. Delivering a fill of Irish folklore, history, and local dialect, the setting of Inishmore was super lovely.
With a grumpy attitude resulting in a broken camera, I really liked the initial hostility between Cordelia and Niall, too. But it was short lived. The hate towards one another was resolved rather quickly, resulting in an overly fast timeline with a questionable romantic development.
In a nutshell, it crammed in a lot of emotions and conflicts for two characters that hardly knew each other. I needed more time spent with Cordelia and Niall as a couple. The intensity of their feelings, especially after a mere one month together, was a little ridiculous and unbelievable for me.
