I really appreciated the interplay between the nasty comments from her peers, the positive support of her mother, and Imani's own dazzling self-confidence that takes hit after hit, but never altogether falters. And all of this is underpinned with the trappings of folktale.

Cute story about believing in yourself filled with cultural stories and mythology from the Maasi tribe in Kenya and Tanzania

Imani faces bullies and self-doubt, but ultimately fulfills her dream through a supportive mother, positive thinking, and perseverance. What fantastic lessons!
