adventurous dark sad tense fast-paced

They weren’t kidding when they said the Lost Children arc was dark. GEEZ.

I know Puck is written into the story for comic relief but this volume really tested my patience in regards to his time on-page. I almost gave this one 4 stars because of him, but Jill’s storyline along with Guts’ white-hot rage in this one brought it back up to 5 for me.

As I mentioned, Guts is P I S S E D in this one, which is really fun to see how that bleeds out into his fights, but it’s also really sad. Some of his actions in this one go from badass to almost truly monstrous; we’re given a glimpse into a man who will do anything to run from his pain. He fights off an army of insect-men in the woods though, which is pretty cool.

Great volume overall, although it was almost overshadowed by Puck’s incessant need to absorb the plot.
