The main character is a good person who finds himself compromising his morals to continue to live and save as many others as he can. I find this to make his character decidedly more lovable. The most of the other side characters weren’t developed well enough to really have me care if they died. Sone I genuinely was upset by, but a lot I didn’t feel the impact. I figured it was a style choice to show the impact of being surrounded by death. The book was filled with characters that would put Satan out of a job, and they were based on real people. But she also also shown a lot of humanity too. All in all it’s a beautiful book. </spoilers>
