Because it’s based on a true story, there are lurches in the narrative and parts where you wish there was more detail. But overall, a beautiful story.

I had recently read the Storyteller by Jodi Piccoult which deals with extremely similar subject matter and I enjoyed that book more so it unfortunately ruined this one a bit for me. I found the charecters slightly less realistic and parts felt a bit contrite with the love story

I finished this book in a single day and it has rendered me speechless. It clearly lays out many of the horrors and atrocities of the holocaust and really makes you think about what people had to go through during this time. I was gripped from start to finish and can't wait to read more of Heather Morris' works
