Oh wow! Just as it was getting REALLY good it ends...

I've heard [a:Harlan Ellison|7415|Harlan Ellison|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1377708311p2/7415.jpg] talking about his original vision for The Starlost CTV television show that ended up being one big disaster for both Harlan and the concept of the series itself (executive meddling always messes it up). I haven't seen the tv show but I had an idea of what to expect from Harlan's original idea. As I turned each page, I found myself getting involved in the story and caring what happens to Devon, Rachel AND Garth.

This graphic novel is a very quick and intriguing read so if you're a fan of science fiction and Harlan Ellison, I recommend checking it out. It would be very nice if IDW and Harlan's estate could keep this going as a series. There is a novelization of [b:Phoenix Without Ashes|182550|Phoenix Without Ashes|Edward Bryant|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1207377556l/182550._SY75_.jpg|1596948] by Harlan and [a:Edward Bryant|70454|Edward Bryant|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1537705433p2/70454.jpg] that I'm going to check out very soon as well.

The movies are wrong. It doesn't matter if you show them the man behind the curtain. They've willfully believed what they have believed for so long, they turn their ears away from truth and turn aside to fables.

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Timely story in the tradition of Harlan Ellison.

I think this was the first volume in a story meant to be a series. I'd like to know how it ends but unfortunately for me, the remaining volumes are not included in my library's Overdrive collection.

I liked the premise of this very much. won't go too in depth because it's a major spoiler but I felt like the dialogue was very forced and choppy. may still pick up the second one however!

This is a great beginning to a graphic novel that was never completed. It’s sad that Ellison didn’t continue it. I definitely would have read the next chapters.

A follow on book based on the horribly flawed, low budget, Starlost TV series. It's an OK read but Ellison didn't write anything extreme since it was meant for 70s TV.

This was a solid 4 for me and I was raring to buy the next volume. And that's where the stars start falling. Apparently this is it. The story ends with absolutely no resolution, just a fascinating premise, a little dramatic pressure release, and... nothing. The story's all set up and ready to go, and there's nothing planned to come after. I feel like I've been given the first chapter of a great book only to be told that the author changed their mind, deleted the rest, and won't be finishing it after all; I'd rather not have read anything at all, at this point.
