Vreselijk voorspelbaar, waardoor je zodra je het plot hebt ontrafeld (dat is heel makkelijk) de rest van het boek zuchtend moet uitlezen. Het zou leuk zijn als het dan toch heel anders blijkt af te lopen dan je had gedacht, maar dat is niet zo.
Kristina Ohlsson är en ny självklar favorit för mig efter att ha läst den här boken. Den är tillräckligt annorlunda för att stå ut, till exempel är poliserna varken deprimerade eller alkoholister. De älskar sitt jobb och de är bra på det. Uppfriskande! Däremot, nu sticker jag ut hakan lite känner jag, varför måste en kvinna längta efter barn så till den milda grad att hon funderar på en adoption bara för att hon är ensamstående? För mig är det en förlegad kvinnosyn, men det är jag det. En annan kvinna får en förlossningsdepression, ytterligare en annan kvinna längtar förtvivlat efter en man så hon slipper vara ensam. Engaging story with developing characters. Storyline Became predictable at the end. .
Could be the translation, however a really really clunky novel. Disappointing :(.
Entertaining and a quick read, but the characters were very stereotypical (male cops thinking the female isn't good enough, blah blah)...and not very smart, so that irked me.
Once a year or so, I try to give mystery novels another chance. I want to like them the way I did when I first read PD James, Dorothy Sayers, and Ngaio Marsh as an undergrad.
Unwanted gets off to a good start and thankfully Ohlsson avoids much of the 'this jurisdiction battling with that jurisdiction/rogue detective' nonsense that clutters up so many detective stories. I was very happy to have the book along on our camping trip and it moved briskly along, with believable characters and an interesting story....right up to the part where it wrapped up so briskly (and perhaps improbably) that I kept wondering if I'd skipped a chapter or forgotten chunks I'd read late at night. Went back to check... but no.
Still, I liked it well enough to pick up another by this author next time I try to give detective novels a try.

Periodo di vacanza, al mare, in montagna od in riva ad un lago, questo thriller ci può accompagnare ovunque siamo, non è eccellente, ma nemmeno pessimo, direi passabile per chi non vuole impegnarsi eccessivamente.
Lilian si trova con la mamma su un treno, quando improvvisamente, durante una sosta, scompare e dopo qualche giorno viene ritrovata morta davanti ad un ospedale, completamente nuda e con una scritta sulla fronte "indesiderata".
Il commissario Alex con i suoi assistenti Fredrika e Peder sono chiamati ad investigare, a scoprire cosa realmente è successo, l'indagine li porterà prima ad un'organizzazione di pedofili poi ad uno psicopatico, l'Uomo, che fa tutto questo per punire le donne, lui che è un sopravvissuto: "quando il pianto silenzioso di un bambino e le cicatrici di un'esistenza negata si trasformano in desiderio di vendetta."
Un thriller leggibile, la scrittrice racconta di ogni personaggio, sia dei buoni che dei cattivi, un po' della loro vita, dei loro amori, delle loro gioie e dei loro dolori, ci indirizza anche verso un soggetto facendoci credere che sia il possibile Uomo, cercando di far coinvolgere il lettore nell'indagine ed ho trovato tutto questo apprezzabile e stuzzicante, perché secondo me quando uno legge libri di questo genere lo scopo principale è cercare insieme a chi indaga chi potrebbe essere l'eventuale colpevole dei misfatti.
Si capisce che la Ohlsson ha realmente operato nel settore, infatti il modus operandi del commissario e dei suoi assistenti è raccontato con precisione e meticolosità, c'è una buona ricostruzione scientifica e ci fa capire che per essere un buon poliziotto è necessario avere un ottimo intuito e senso critico che aiutano a risolvere questi terribili e complicati fatti di cronaca dove sono coinvolti dei bambini innocenti e dove il tempo è sinonimo di salvezza, peccato per il finale un po' affrettato!

This is the first of Kristina Olssons novels and I´m glad there now is three more to read. I was a bit reluctant to read it because here in Sweden we suddenly have a lot of crime writers - unfortunately few of them are worth reading...
Well, Kristina Olsson is NOT one of them. The story is ok and the characters are interesting. This first book makes you want to get to know them better.
I also do like when there is a theme in a crime novel, when the crime and the investigation somehow is being reflected in the character´s lives. For example like in Elizabeth George´s Missing Joseph had the theme childlessness and the loss of children in it this novel - as the english title hints - the theme is unwanted children.
