I was disappointed by this production. I'd heard great things, but after listening to the unabridged audiobook I found I missed a lot of the narrative structure that isn't present in a radio production. I think if I didn't know the story and events so well from the books and movies, I would have be lost many times.

I love the lotr books and films. While I can appreciate this for what it is (a reenactment made for the radio in the 80s) it still felt to me a bit like listening to a high school theater production. It's not bad but enjoyed listening to the actual audiobook than this version
