I started reading this in print and then got a copy on audio through Everand. I’d heard that Meryl Streep’s narration was really good, and I agree. It was great! I liked the family picking cherries during the pandemic, and I liked the story the mom told from the summer of 1998, although it made me uneasy! You can see from the beginning, that summer set the trajectory for the lives of those involved. A contemplation on the road not taken and choices made that make a good life.

This was slow to start, but I really liked the second half. The writing style felt very comforting and I loved the character descriptions and sense of time and place.
