I had heard people speak highly of this and I knew immediately when I opened it to the first page that this was for me. Colors are limited to who is telling what story, which they make evident immediately. The line work is both simple and detailed, but mostly detailed. Nguyen seems to have an instinct on when to use the detail and when to not. Lines are used to give texture and shadow (with the help of colors but it’s mostly the line). So beautiful. I’m definitely getting some Aubrey Beardsley vibes from it. Recommended to folks that love some good linework and like fairytales, but those interested in immigrant and LGBTQ issues will also be interested.
