I liked the beginning and the art was really nice, but it got so weird and I stopped liking it halfway through. I liked the idea of the characters reading stories and I enjoyed the first one, the art is really nice and detailed. In the next stories they just got weird and dark and I just didn’t like them, it was an abrupt turn for the tone of the book to change so much? I also didn’t like how the characters faces are drawn, it makes them look like little kids but this is a young adult novel and it says the main character is 13. I feel like they’re drawn to look younger than that.

I also did not like the abrupt ending, it just ended so randomly I did not know the last page was the last page. I just don’t like that feeling of not even knowing you’re on the last page and then realizing it and being like ok??

Mermaids, Vietnamese culture, a gay kid and his mom, there's nothing more to ask from this graphic novel, the best standalone title I've seen in a while. Its a must read, specially for people that said heartstopper was weak, this has the simplicity and good vibes but the thicker plot. I may want to go to Vietnam now

Such a nostalgic book. Growing up, I had watched and heard renditions of  Tấm Cám . This is definitely a different version from what I have heard and watched before in my childhood, but has that same element of gore in the end that Disney would not approve of. I found it warm how Helen changed the ending of The Little Mermaid to segue into showing Tiến how she supports and loves him. I love the áo dài  in Tấm Cám. Represent!!

This graphic novel is stunning. An unbelievable amount of detail is in every frame, and I especially liked how it uses colors to differentiate between the present, past, and fairytale sections. Each major character is thoughtfully crafted and feels real (even those in the fairytales), concluding in a heartfelt ending. It combines a family, fairytales, and Vietnamese culture into a story that leaps off the pages.

A really lovely graphic novel revolving around a mother and son's relationship and their connection through fairytales
