One of ym favourite comic series. I just re-read them for the frist time in a while (this time for an academic paper analyzing the presence/importance of queer & minoity characters), and I fell in love with all the characters once again. Even though I don't enjoy this run of the comics as much as the [a:Kieron Gillen|439887|Kieron Gillen|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1351308091p2/439887.jpg] run, this is an amazing comic, one of my all-time favourites.

I especially enjoyed this omnibus edition, as I not only got to experience the great writing and art-work again, but the book also includes a bunch of other cool things, like interviews with the author, original concept art, and original plans for the series (which actually diverge from the way the comic ended up going in quite a few ways).

Overall, a really, really fun read for comic fans and novel-readers alike. I'd recommend the Young Avengers to one and all! (And once you're done with this book, try reading [b:Civil War: Young Avengers/Runaways|331208|Civil War Young Avengers/Runaways|Zeb Wells|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1338075828s/331208.jpg|321777], where the adventure continues. :) )

It's no secret that I love the Young Avengers. And while this book has its weaknesses - the actual plot is nothing to write home about, and they spend a little too much time with that whole "Cap and Tony don't want the kids to get hurt" thing. But! The five stars are still well-deserved, in my opinion: the main reason being that the Young Avengers are a fantastic team with likable teenage characters, which is a rare thing indeed. And not only do they have two openly gay teenage boys, no! They also have a kickass female character. And two teenage girls whose interaction is warm and genuine. It's just a fun read and the kind of book you read because you want to spend as much time with these people as possible.

The art didn't do a whole lot for me and I cared about the characters infinitely more than the plot, but it was enjoyable overall.
