that was really sweet

I like the concept so far

Beautiful art and the start of a sweet story. However, I felt like I checked a book out of the library only to get it home and find I had one chapter.

I also felt like I was missing something important. Many "sounds" appeared on the pages. I assume they mean something but I didn't get it.

I literally want to print out each page and stick them on my walls

Charming from the start, with some interesting world building and reasons to care about the characters, but over very fast. Bit of a cliffhanger going to the next volume. So be prepared to invest!

Gorgeous and interesting art that really lends itself to the mood and atmosphere. Interesting and eerie worldbuilding, but a bit light on plot for the first 2/3 of the volume.

What an interesting and beautifully illustrated story.

The Girl from the Other Side is about a little girl, innocent and sweet, a bright splash of white on dark pages. Despite her normal house and time spent making daisy chains and hosting tea parties, all is not quite what it seems. Most obviously when it comes to the presence of her guardian, whom she calls Teacher--a tall, impeccably dressed, staggeringly slim creature with two spiralling horns atop his head.

She is an insider and he an outsider, and he is not allowed to touch her, for he may curse her with a simple brush of his fingertips.

This a story that is not only a story of an adult out of his league doing his best to care for a young girl. It is also mysterious and certainly has its dark and melancholic moments. This is no fast-paced read, but slow and leisurely unfurling secrets of a divided land. I'm curious enough to pick up the next story, if nothing else than to enjoy the absurdly beautiful art.

Interesting fairy tale setting and cool design on the Outsiders.
dark tense fast-paced

I am enjoying this series so far!
