After completing the first book in the series, I am truly (but not surprisingly) impressed by how much I loved this story, the characters of Shiva and Teacher, and the fantasy that encompasses the lands of the Insiders and the Outsiders.
When the world shuns what is dark, cursed, and potentially dangerous it only causes us to become more paranoid, anxious, and suppressed. This is not a healthy way to live, since balance between the light and the dark makes us human and authentic. Luckily Shiva is getting a lesson in this idea, and will be the better for knowing both the light and the dark.
I cannot wait to start the next volumes in the series, and to share with other manga readers and lovers of Nagabe's work!

This was a cute story with some dark undertones. I think it also had a lot of world-building set up for the story to grow in future volumes.
