Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is like a manga version of the anime Sailor Moon Crystal.

I know that this is a common take, but I really enjoyed the manga more than the anime. Here's why. Having only watched the anime and seeing the transformation sequences and fights, I wasn't sure it was going to be as good in the manga. I was sort of right, BUT the manga is so much better because the plot makes more sense. It drags less, there's more logical situations, etc.
I'm actually glad I read the manga after watching the anime because it let me better focus on these details than the action while reading. It also made the jumpcuts easier to understand because there are problems with the manga just jumping from one scene to a complete different one, with only a vague implication as to what happened inbetween. The anime does a better job at extending these bits out to give context at least.
That being said, the art style is gorgeous and it's a great nostalgic throwback to my childhood.

As a kid, I always wanted to watch Sailor Moon. Recently, it occurred to me that I could read it!
I don't know what it is--Usagi being useless, the weird sexualization of minors, or the clunky translating, but I just did not vibe with this book. I might read the next one since I really want to like this series, but I was confused for half of it and uncomfortable/annoyed for the rest.

I liked this and all, but I kind of enjoyed the anime version of this better! DON'T HATE ME. Never thought I would say "watch the movie, it's better", but here I am.
