Its good. It's not my normal cup of tea. I think it would have been better to read the physical book compared to the audio book but still really solid. A fun idea

I wasn’t sure about Olivie Blake after the atlas six since I found the story hard to connect with as the characters were quite cold & the magic systems super complex.
This completely restored my faith though! It felt a bit like a Neil Gaiman book (which is weird because I haven’t properly read any) but it just nailed the rag tag found family trope. Ironically, all the characters felt super fleshed out & human compared to her previous releases. And whilst the magic system at the tables was still hard to understand, it didn’t matter as much because it didn’t take up as much of the book & sometimes you just have to accept that you don’t get things & move on (suspension of stupidity)
Another book it weirdly reminded me of was the invisible life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab but if that book actually had a plot & was paced well. Basically the immortal love conundrum (which Fox & Brandt personified heartbreakingly breathtakingly gorgeously).
