I am usually very against reading abridged books. This book could be an exception though. The good parts were very good and the outdated parts are probably best left to an English Literature class.

I was somewhat surprised that I liked Middlemarch as much as I did. This is the first book I've read by George Eliot and I was amazed at her writing. I was so impressed by her development of the characters, her nuanced understanding of personality traits and her superior intelligence in general. I definitely will be checking into her other novels.
