I went into this with pretty high expectations after loving Gone Girl but I really didn't get on with this. The premise was interesting but I guessed the plot twist really early on (and that never happens!) and there were some things that just made me uncomfortable and not in the way a thriller should.

In the process of trying to dig myself out of a reading slump, I grabbed this book at an airport convenience store. It was short and I tend to enjoy thrillers/suspense, so I figured it'd be perfect. I will say that I did enjoy the book, but it took me *forever* to finish it! I can't figure out if that was due to the fact that I figured out what was going on fairly quickly, I pretty much hated all of the characters, or the pacing just felt off to me (seriously, nothing happens for most of the book and then BAM EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING AT ONCE). Maybe it was a combination of all three. Still, it was entertaining when I could bother myself to pick it up and I do enjoy the author's writing style, so it wasn't a total bust. It just... wasn't what I needed at the moment, I guess.
