I received this book for Christmas from a friend. It's much darker than books I typically read, but I was surprised that I couldn't put it down! Many twists and turns, it's a good read!
This was a twisted, dirty little story and I liked it...that's right, I liked it. Kept me interested and on my toes. I thought I had it figured out several times, and I did...but I didn't...but I did.

Loved the short series, and when I saw it was based off of a Gillian Flynn novel, I got even more excited! “Gone Girl” is a classic, after all. But, I honestly found that the tv show had a better formulation of the ending as it was a lot more tense and grueling compared to the book’s rather slow climb to the reveal. Camille’s character was a lot more interesting as we were able to see her thought process in depth, and I realized she was a lot more vulnerable than what the show made her seem! Overall, so good. Big fan of Gillian Flynn, and I can’t wait to read more from her.

Smartly plotted and a satisfying ending. Even though I discovered the main twists pretty early on, I was captivated throughout. The little details that ultimately revealed the killer were very smartly written. Gillian Flynn is wildly disturbing and I love getting lost in her stories, despite how uncomfortable they make me feel.
DNFed at 86%. I really tried to finish this book. It was short, so I figured I’d have no trouble speeding through the rest of it. I was wrong.
I loved the first 40 or so pages of this book. Flynn has a very captivating style that flows really well, and it was probably the only good thing about the book.
Let’s talk main character. I hated Camille. Even if she was great mental illness rep, I found her to be shallow and most of her actions to be disgusting.
The “romance” in this book was abysmal. It was very insta-lovey, and characters had absolutely no chemistry.
Lastly, the middle of this book is so dry that I almost dropped it ten times before finally DNFing it.
Overall, this book was very disappointing.

Sharp Objects is a resoundingly haunting and precise look into the violence women commit against themselves and against each other. There is such a specific tact and devastation in these relationships and Gillian Flynn materializes it perfectly. Munchausen by proxy is such a unique lens to capture this dynamic. Much like the diagnosis itself, the type of cruelty endured and perpetrated by the women of Wind Gap isn’t so clearly defined. It’s hard to pinpoint as a participant on either side, and either way, why stop now? The result is an ouroboros of malice and a town full of finger pointers, too blind to the four pointing back at them.
