Alarming, gritty and a maniacally realistic insight into the dynamics of a very sick family. Gillian Flynn is willing to delve into and share thoughts and feelings too dark for the average person to even acknowledge they have to themselves, much less an audience.

This was another expertly twisting and interesting read from Flynn. She dropped just enough hints that the end isn't surprising, but it was the least likely suspect. I enjoyed Camille, the narrator and her complete inability to have a normal relationship with anyone. She's a vulnerable character who is not too proud to let others pity her, unlike most characters like her in fiction. Her strength is being able to talk to others how she knows they want her to. in this novel, she is just the catalyst for the story, though, so she did not need to be likeable or even relatable.

I like Flynn's stories. They are neat and alarming in a fascinating way.

So good! Very spooky and the reveal at the end was so dramatic. I feel like many mysteries don’t super make sense when you get to the end because there have been too many twist and turns and red herrings, which makes the final reveal less convincing. This book has the perfect number of twists that made me surprised at the ending but also made complete sense in the context of the whole story.
