Omg that plot twist?!? I didn’t see that coming. The whole book had this eerie, unsettling vibe, and then everything just exploded at the end. I honestly felt bad for Amma, she turned out that way because of her mother, and it’s just so heartbreaking and messed up.
Also, English isn’t my first language, so I found it a bit hard to get into the story at first. The writing style felt a little dense and I had to reread some parts to really get what was going on. But once I got into the flow, it pulled me in. Creepy and disturbing.

I accidentally read Gillians work backwards: starting with Gone Girl and ending with this one so her writing (expectantly) got less polished as I went. However, I still loved this story. Flynn has this unique way of making deeply flawed and disturbed characters that you somehow find yourself invested in by the end.
Through the suspense and mystery there are still meaningful statements on humanity and violence that very few authors have managed to capture so expertly.
I’m sad I’ve reached the end of her works but could not put this book down once I started.
