This book was satisfyingly twisted. I couldn’t put it down.

Seems like you can’t trust anyone! I really enjoyed this book about a small town that has the murders of two young girls on different occasions about a year apart. Main Character Camille goes back to her home town of Wind Gap to write about those murders for her job back in Chicago and is faced with many ill memories of growing up there. I feel like the only reason I gave this four stars instead of five was because it was kind obvious and predictable who the killer was (to me anyways). I like the darkness and grimness of the book and how vulnerable and different the main character Camille was with her suffering and surviving.

"Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn proved to be an utterly gripping and unsettling read, expertly maintaining a relentless pace that keeps you hooked from start to finish. I particularly enjoyed the raw imperfection of its main character, Camille Preaker, whose deeply flawed and damaged nature made her incredibly compelling and real, especially as her dynamism and resilience shone through in her fight against her past. The masterful thriller suspense woven throughout the narrative, alongside the exploration of complicated and deeply dysfunctional family ties, built to an unforgettable and disturbing climax. The pervasive themes of jealousy further deepened the psychological impact of this dark journey, which truly gets under your skin and leaves a lasting impression long after the final page.
