Cry Baby war für mich eher ein durchschnittliches Leseerlebnis. Ich musste mich stark an den Schreibstil und die Protagonistin gewöhnen, und auch die Handlung entsprach nicht ganz meinen Erwartungen. Statt eines spannenden Thrillers bekam ich eher ein düsteres Familiendrama im Kleinstadt-Setting. Zwar waren die verstörenden Eindrücke und bizarren Gedanken der Protagonistin interessant und teilweise beklemmend, aber sie haben mich letztlich nicht richtig gepackt. Insgesamt war das Buch für mich eher zäh, stellenweise bizarr, aber ohne den Nerv zu treffen, den ich mir erhofft hatte. Daher vergebe ich 3 Sterne – solide, aber kein Highlight.
Wow! I fucking loved the series so much and I’ve had this book for a year soon so of course I had to read it. Actually prefer the series as it is one of my favourites, but still awesome
this was crazy - gillian flynn is goooood, but took too long to get into it considering it was 300 pages but still worth the read

This book has a very cinematic vibe, which makes me very excited to watch the tv show.
Qué lectura tan extraña y qué mal cuerpo me ha dejado. Leí hace un tiempo "Perdida", me gustó bastante, y quería leer algo más de la autora... Pero ha sido un error escoger este libro.
Primero porque lo cogí pensando que sería un thriller. La historia teóricamente trata de una periodista que vuelve a su pueblo natal para escribir sobre una serie de asesinatos a niñas que allí se producen... Sin embargo esta trama se desdibuja completamente, se queda absolutamente olvidada hasta las últimas páginas, donde se resuelve de la forma más obvia y que yo me esperaba desde las primeras páginas (y tampoco es que sea yo muy lince). Y todo esto es sustituido por las relaciones extrañas y turbias que hay entre los distintos personajes. Y de ahí viene mi segundo conflicto: todo se me ha hecho extremadamente confuso, desagradable y turbio. Los personajes me han parecido la mayoría despreciables y oscuros, sus actos y decisiones incomprensibles y en general, se me ha hecho una lectura desagradable. Ya en "Perdida" los personajes eran muy de ese estilo, pero en conjunto con la historia y la forma de narrarlo... Quedaba bien, pegaba. En esta ocasión siento que todo estaba muy forzado.
Quizá podría haberlo disfrutado más si hubiese sabido de qué iba realmente... Pero tampoco.

Since we experience the story through Camille’s perspective, we notice a disturbing pattern of history repeating itself in how her stepsister acts and what she does. Flynn drops just enough hints for you to figure out the culprit, but an unsuspecting reader might wrongly accuse someone else, and if you do, like I did, the final twist will leave you shattered.
One element that may unsettle readers is Flynn’s descriptions of thirteen-year-old girls, which sometimes veer uncomfortably close to sexualization.
