usually not a Rina Kent fan so I wasn't expecting to like it, I actually thought I would dnf this book pretty fast...I ended up reading this book in one sitting, it's so addicting I wasn't expecting that
I really loved Aiden and Elsa (seems like an unpopular opinion tho bc I've heard so many bad things about them) and I loved the others..Especially Cole omg this man owns my heart, can't wait to read his book..I swear I'm whipped for him even tho he didn't speak that much
I love Aiden as well, not as much as Cole, but this man is hot and he's so damn obsessed...I'm weak for the "boy obsessed with girl" trope sigh
About the plot, I'm a bit disappointed regarding the "twist" about Elsa's parents being responsible of Aiden's mother's death...I thought the whole reason he was terrible to her was something else, not some revenge stuff because of her parents...
Imma read book 2 now bc the cliffhanger is just cruel...Aiden wasn't honest in the very start?? (not surprised btw, he was very sketchy at the beginning when all of a sudden he started to take her for breakfast and be "nicer" to her) and who the hell pushed her in the pool????

can't believe I was scared to reread aidenelsa...for some reason I feared my love for them would be tarnished by a reread, I thought that maybe I wouldn't love them as much as I did the first time and that it would ruin the memories I have of that book and of my first aidenelsa reading experience...I WAS A FOOL
I even uprated the book,, 4 stars aint enough for aiden motherfkng king and elsa steel istg they deserve ALL THE FKING STARS

I also need to say something about Aiden himself. I remember being OBSESSED with cole during my first read and now that I've actually read his book and just reread aiden's I have to admit I was wrong...I was absolutely mistaken...aiden king is the only rina kent man for me. He's just superior and everything I want in a fictional man.

september 2024 5⭐️/5

it’s 2024, i’ve read almost every rk novel and countless dark romances and no man compares to aiden king. he literally (still!!) gets me blushing and giggling everytime he breathes.
aiden king is the blueprint, the one who started the rku and im afraid rk will never write a man half as good as him (okay she already has BUT aiden king is still #1)
everything about aiden fucking king is hot: the mole he has under his right eye? hot. his left eye twitch everytime he’s pissed off? hot. his possessiveness? hot. the way he’s obsessed with elsa? hot. the fact that he’d never in a million years leave elsa even if she cheated on him? hot. the fact that he notices and remembers everything about her? hot. his intelligence and the way he plays chess 24/7 even when he’s alone? hot. his dirty talk? hot. the way he holds himself? hot. his dry humor? hot.
he. is. everything.

dnf this book. I had very high expectations cause everyone kept saying rina kent’s books are immaculate. this was one of the worst books i have ever read. hated the characters and the plot sm

4.75/5 "Those who don't play think that the king is the most important piece because the game is over when he dies. They don't know that the king is useless without his queen." Aiden freaking King. If he breaks Elsa, I will scream. I want her to get her memories back. I want so much more for them!

Book Review: Deviant King by Rina Kent – A Dark, Addictive Ride into Royal Elite

I just finished Deviant King by Rina Kent, the second installment in the Royal Elite Book series—and I have to say, wow. Rina Kent is truly cementing her place as one of my go-to authors for dark romance. This is the third book I’ve read by her (two just last week!), and she continues to impress me with her fast-paced, emotionally intense writing style.

Let’s talk about Aiden. What a character. There’s something about his cold, unreadable exterior that pulls you in. He’s so dark, so mysterious—and that poker face? Honestly, admirable. I think we’ve all had moments where we wish we could mask our emotions the way he does. He’s definitely one of the most intriguing characters in this series so far.

Elsa, on the other hand... My feelings toward her are a bit more complicated. Initially, I found her to be a compelling lead. But as the story progressed, I found myself liking her less and less. Maybe it’s her decisions, or how she navigates her relationship with Aiden—but something didn’t sit right. Still, that’s part of what makes Rina Kent’s characters so interesting: they’re layered, flawed, and real.

One thing I really missed in Deviant King was Aiden’s point of view. The story is entirely from Elsa’s perspective, which felt limiting—especially considering that the first book in the series gave us dual POVs (Astrid and Levi). With a character as complex as Aiden, I wanted to get inside his head, understand what drives him, and why he does what he does. Thankfully, I just started the next book in the series—Steel Princess—and it opens with Aiden’s perspective. Finally!

Also, shoutout to Ronan and Cole. We didn’t see much of them in the first book, but their roles are growing, and I’m already intrigued by their potential storylines. I have a feeling I’m really going to enjoy their arcs.

And let’s not forget Jonathan King. Do I hate him? Maybe a little. But just like with all the characters in this universe, his motivations are layered. In the first book, his actions—while harsh—seemed rooted in a desire to protect Levi. There's a major plot twist tied to that.
