I felt like the writing was all over the place, a lot of times I read super confused but that could be the ADHD and me just getting back into reading but I still saw the difference of writing compared to the other books, I’ll be honest and say mostly the spicy scenes kept me going, and I caved and bought the 2nd book, cuz I liked Bridget’s character, will I continue the entire series, I guess I’ll have to see.

Trope: dark romance; grumpy & sunshine
To be honest, the first 150 pages, I’ve been skeptical, because I don’t support some statements of Alex, because they’re just too toxic and in general he’s very possessive.
Once the trauma of Ava started to get clarified, I couldn’t stop reading, because it was all so dramatic and exciting because of all the plot twists. It was genius!
As you can already tell from my rating of the spice, it’s definitely not a little amount. I would even assign it to dark romance. ;)
Subsequently, I’d like to say that I love the style of writing. If you’ve read “Verity” you definitely will enjoy this one too. It’s a mix of a love & crime story.
The secondary characters were interesting too and I’m already so excited for the other books in this series.

I liked this book. I think I have a slight new love for the whole I’ll burn the world for you type beat.
However… some of it was too much. I’m all for the possessive and protective boyfriend but some of the quotes gave me whiplash. Especially how protective he was during the third act breakup - what would’ve made this a higher rating for me would’ve been Alex begging for forgiveness but hey… that’s just me 🫣
What I especially loved about this book was the way the third act breakup panned out. SHOCK HORROR! I enjoyed a third act breakup?!?!
Yes. I did.
It wasn’t just a miscommunication that was solved in days. There was real reason behind it and it didn’t just get solved in a matter of seconds. It felt like it was thought about properly rather than just a random bit of conflict thrown in there.
I haven’t read many books with characters that have conflicted pasts but it was extremely well written. Both pasts were integral to the story and well thought out. I didn’t feel as though either one was too much or too little. It also didn’t feel like either character was forcing their troubled past down the others throat.
I really liked this book and these characters and understand the hype around the twisted series. I cannot wait for Ryhs and Bridget’s story

The fmc was entirely insufferable. Cringey vanilla virgin vibes while trying to come off bratty.
Author also uses em dashes way too damn much, makes reading so choppy. Try commas next time.

I hated this book. And hate that I always have to finish a book I start.
