There is no better way to cheat my reading challenge than by reading comic books. Yet once again I don't get to keep this but like...wow
It was dark and kind of creepy but really really good!!

This was my first exposure to Alan Moore, and while only subtly different from other Batman stories, I think it did a lot to open up the characters of both Batman and Joker and pave the way for their resurgence in popularity.

Short but loved the commentary on insanity as Batman and the Joker have a showdown, and the artwork is gorgeous and striking. Very noir.

The edition I read is the re-coloured one by the artist Brian Bolland. It also has a short by Bolland in it which is creepy and edgy: like the artist veers between love and hate for his work.

After finishing this graphic novel--my first, by the way--all I can think is "wow." The Killing Joke was such a disturbing and dark tale that told the origin story of The Joker while showing him plot a scheme during the present.

The Joker has always been one of my favorite villains, so to delve into his backstory was incredible. For being one of the most twisted and evil characters I've read, that man can still make me laugh, and that is a sign of an amazing villain.

I do wish that this novel was a little longer. I also wish that ending did not leave me with so very many questions.

I've been a superhero enthusiast ever since I can remember, so reading a graphic novel has been long overdue. I'm glad this was my first one, because it was fantastic!
