+3.5 stars because it’s objectively very good -1.5 stars because I personally didn’t enjoy it very much. I discovered recently that I judge things 99% on the way they make me feel and this did not make me feel good (because the main character is the Joker).
I will say though props to the author for not making us try to sympathize with the Joker. The reader understands him but doesn’t sympathize with him. That’s ok with me because there’s no way I would sympathize with him so I would probably just have ended up hating the book.
The art style is also good and the pacing is good and dialogue is good.
The story was weird and a little messed up not going to lie but once again the Joker is the main character so I guess I should’ve seen that coming. Unfortunately Commissioner Gordon’s daughter (who I guess is dating Batman in this story?) gets fridged which I also wasn’t a fan of at all. Poor Barbara.
Also I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the dialogue in the flashback scenes. At one point one guy was like “we just need you to get us through the chemical factory next to the playing card factory” and I was like I wonder where this is going. They’re not the most intelligent creatures.
I will say this had a really good ending. The dialogue was really good and I read a really cool theory about the last few panels that I thought made this entire book so much more interesting. The ending was the best part of the whole thing in my opinion.

I was going to make this 3 stars but at one point the Joker starts singing and good for him so I added half a star because I support the arts.

Short, simple, and yet incredibly powerful. Honestly this is just stunning and easily prompts re-reads with specific focus on every single panel.
