This book was better than I thought it would be
I have to admit the first half of the book I was quite bored and was skimming over bits where I just did not care, but I WAS invested in the romance, very much had me rooting for Adam and olive. One thing I didn't like was that it felt like Olive's whole dead mum thing was an afterthought that just got thrown in there because of course every main character has to have a dead parent, but honestlyyy other than that- it was a solid romance.
There were moments I was on the edge of my SEATT like there were some real scandalss
Like when she was FINALLY falling for him and she told Malcolm and he was right behind her??!!?!? Crazy🥵 but then they played it off that he thought she liked JEREMY? And that was just nooooot it
And also I sooooo wanted her to just tellllllllllll ADAM ABOUT TOM I WAS THINKING OMFG BITCH TF BFFR TELL HIM ALREADY WJAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.

And also I was really really into their relationship by the end they're really cute! Some of their recurring jokes maybe could've been dialed down but there were times where I was like wow this feels like such a real conversation I'm so happy for these smart people
Like when they're in the apartment after Tom insults her and she's crying and HES COMFORTING HER AND HUGGING HER SO CUTE that whole apartment arc in general was so good

I'm also SO GLAD that Olive and Adam actually have LIVES like outside of eachother, which a lot of romance books forget to include 💀
I'm ALSO so happy that Olive is a NORMAL 5'8 GIRL and not a 4'9 curvy sunshine happy stickers girl like half the other female protagonists in romance (I'm looking at th Zara from the fine print)
ANYWAYS😡 this book is good and I recommend, second half had me hooked🧪🥼🔭🔬👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

Science wrapped up in a Hallmark movie - I enjoyed this so much.  And I'm super happy that I never pursued grad school!

THIS. BOOK. If you have not read The Love Hypothesis🔬 by Ali Hazelwood, stop what you are doing RIGHT NOW and go read it. IT. IS. AMAZING.

Up to this point, I had only been reading books included in my Kindle Unlimited subscription, but when my best friend told me I had to read this book, I couldn’t say no and purchased the paperback immediately. And MAN, am I so glad that I read it AND that I got the paperback so that I could make notes in it.

Here are my top reasons for loving this book:
1. Adam Carlsen. Enough said. 😍
2. The fact that there’s genuinely a plot-line to follow that was STEM-based, which is rare, and very interesting to follow along with.
3. CHAPTER. SIXTEEN. 😍🌶 OMG. OMG. That chapter gave me allllllll the butterflies.
4. Let’s be real. I had butterflies the entire time. I genuinely laughed out loud and clutched my heart in “aww”s so many times throughout this book.
5. The hypotheses provided at the start of every chapter. Loved them so much.
6. Adam Carlsen. Because, he’s worth noting twice. 😍🥰

My only semi, semi, semi critique is in regard to the overuse of cut-off dialogue. The amount of half sentences ending in -- or … kinda drove me nuts. Also, I think I will forever prefer a book that’s written in 1st person POV or alternating POVs rather than 3rd person POV. BUT neither of these critiques took away from how amazing this book was to me.

Please, please, PLEASE go read The Love Hypothesis🔬 by Ali Hazelwood. I finished this book in 2 nights and a total of about 9 hours. I actually pulled an all-nighter to read during the first night because I just could not put it down. Needless to say, I 1000000% recommend this book and will 1000000% be re-reading it again, maybe even sooner rather than later.

Adam Carlson. He was the highlight of the book tbh and I loved the setting. Dont like how much he was referred to as big and she was referred to as little and small in comparison. Felt a bit wattpad-esc at times but that might just be a me problem. I believe Anh shouldve been more included towards the end. I did also find their lack of communication and honesty to be annoying as it created tension for no reason. But, all in all a fast, funny and cute read.

I really like how even though there is a steamy scene, the narrative still pulls through!! There are some wording in the scene that could be changed, but it adds to the cheesiness and guilty pleasure of it. The only reason why it's not a 5 star is that, though relatable at times, some of Olive's inner dialogue is too much (not in quantity but quality). Like the representation of BIPOC and women in science!
