this woman is incredible, the story was so interesting and diverse and really brought new york to life literally. staten island does have pete davidson though

You have to really LOVE and care about New York to fully enjoy this book. I appreciate the authors passion for her city, but I couldn’t ever get into it.

this was great! Jemisin's imagination! this is ingenuity.

What stood out to me is how she centres characters that have that certain identifying characteristic that is quintessential to a particular borough and then she takes that and morphs it into the eccentricities, behaviours and attitudes that make New York.

I didn't love the characters, but I do love how they come together to fight for their home.
