Another fun installment in this series. I could’ve done with more plot development instead of so much of Joyce and her friends to question people, but still enjoyable.

Obviously trying to mirror the Thursday Murder Club, the Marlow Murder Club is also set in a small English town, comprised of a group of middle aged to elderly women who solve murders while being witty. It's just not as witty as the TMC. The writing isn't as good, the characters aren't as hilarious, cosy English vibes aren't as thick, and the character arcs aren't as realistic. Also, no one is a spy (because yes I'm Team Elizabeth, sorry everyone on Team Joyce!!).

In this one, a nice guy, who is the chair of a small town planning committee and also rhe mayor I think, is murdered by a poisoned coffee.

It was fun, easy to read, and a but cosy but it still feels like a knockoff TMC that tried to do the same thing and didn't quiiiite make. A for effort though! Or 3.5 stars for effort.

It wasn't terrible (the fatphobia certainly was) but it wasn't enjoyable either. Also, the characters were more unlikable than in the previous books imo.
