Carrie Soto Might be back but Taylor Jenkins Reid definitely isn't.

This might be the very story she set out to write and if that's the case she did a wonderful job. I just didn't like it. After Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones, the expectations she created in readers are very high. Linear storytelling with very little heart and an uninteresting character is not up to the standard she set for herself.

I loved my fair share of unlikeable characters. To tell you the truth, they are my favorite kind. But Carrie Soto was boring. The only character that was fleshed out was Javier and that's about it.

If producing one book a year is coming in the way of quality, making it seem like some boring biography rather than a well-thought-out fiction she is capable of writing, she needs to take a break.
