i had to purchase this book so i could mark all the beautiful little bits to come back to again and again. cried like 3x. really beautiful storytelling and candid insight into the contention of love, political unrest, and what it might be like to choose between what you believe in and what keeps you safe. super oversimplified assessment of this book but i really enjoyed it

Super disappointing. This premise would have been exciting 20 or even 10 years earlier, now it’s just trite and trodden out. So many authors did this better. The sheer volume and frequency of „I felt how X happened“-constructions was jarring and made me cringe at times.
